Operator Challenge

Back by popular demand, the Operator Challenge will once again be held as part of the 2026 BCWWA Annual Conference & Trade Show in Penticton, BC!

The Operator Challenge provides an opportunity for BC’s top operators to compete and share their skills and knowledge and be recognized for their outstanding performance as water and wastewater professionals. The competition is designed to be a fun and challenging event for BC operators within a collegial environment and will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

A third competition has been added to this year’s lineup, giving teams even more opportunities to showcase their skills, teamwork and technical knowledge in a fun, collegial environment.

  • Pipe Repair Challenge – Teams will be timed as they complete a pipe repair, with judges scoring on safety, speed and teamwork.

  • Lockout Challenge – A simulated pump replacement that puts teams’ lockout procedure, communication and problem-solving skills to the test under real-world conditions.
  • “Test the Waters” Trivia Event – A Q&A-style challenge based on Level 1–3 Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment materials.
