Engagement
The BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA) is not only an association that provides services and programs to BC and the Yukon’s water sector but also fosters relationships with affiliate organizations and partner organizations that are part of the One Water sector. Let us connect you with a vast network of partners who support our water community and share our mission to ensure a safe, secure, and sustainable water environment.
Our BC & Yukon Partners
A One Water sector means engaging with other professional and industry associations who share our unifying vision and mission to support BC and the Yukon’s water community.

Connecting With Government
As a voice of record and champion of the One Water sector in BC and the Yukon, the BCWWA works closely with government offices and staff towards the common good of safeguarding public health and the environment on water matters. We are connected with, but not limited to, government affairs in the following ways
A Voice for BC and the Yukon’s Water Sector
The BCWWA works with multiple ministries and offices, including the BC Premier’s Office, Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship and Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs , to ensure that the perspective and subject-matter expertise of the water sector is included in provincial government priorities. We also include our partnership and collaboration with First Nations communities and governance structures in BC and the Yukon. Indigenous peoples have been, and continue to be, the protectors and stewards of natural water systems and land since time immemorial. The BCWWA is committed to deepening these relationships and supporting First Nations-led water stewardship.
Safeguarding Public Health
The BCWWA is connected with the BC Ministry of Health and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) to deliver information on public health and information related to legislation, policies and practices. The PHO is required by the Drinking Water Protection Act to ensure compliance and report on activities related to drinking water safety. We ensure that ministry staff can connect and work with BCWWA members and partner with them on a variety of projects, including the BC Small Water Systems Community Network.
Connecting Water Professionals Worldwide
The BCWWA maintains affiliate ties with the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) , including a representative on the BCWWA Board of Directors. We also work with members to regularly contribute to federal regulatory responses pertaining to drinking water and the environment and partake in discussions of national interest regarding the water sector.
Affiliate Connections
We recognize that the BC and Yukon water sector is not an isolated one, with connections spanning across Canada and internationally. That is why the BCWWA has joint membership structures with the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) .
In this, AWWA and WEF members based in BC can be part of the AWWA British Columbia Section and enjoy the benefits of being a BCWWA member at no extra cost. We also work closely with the AWWA and WEF to share resources and thought leadership relevant to water professionals across North America.
