Community CCC Programs

Many communities (i.e., water purveyors) in BC have put in place cross connection control (CCC) programs to safeguard their water system from contaminated water flowing backwards into the public water system.

CCC programs are generally supported by local CCC or water bylaws mandating measures to be taken to ensure that cross connections in the water distribution system are protected or eliminated. Programs typically monitor (to varying degrees) the installation, maintenance and field testing of backflow preventers within a distribution system. CCC programs are an important part of a multi-barrier approach to protecting safe drinking water.
