Tap Water Taste Test

BCWWA’s “Best of the Best” BC & Yukon Tap Water Taste Test is a friendly competition inviting water providers from across BC and the Yukon to compete to see who has the best-tasting tap water. The competition is held to raise awareness of the importance of our water systems in protecting public health and the environment.

Which water purveyor will come out on top and be awarded the best tasting water in BC and the Yukon?

How It Works

Recognizing and celebrating high quality water

Water purveyors in BC and the Yukon are invited to provide a sample directly from the tap of an end user. A panel of impartial judges will taste and evaluate water samples on a numeric scale that scores for appearance, aroma, taste, mouth feel, aftertaste and overall impression.

Please note:

In an effort to ensure that this competition recognizes and celebrates the high quality of water that exists throughout BC and the Yukon, in consultation with our Drinking Water Committee and Community of Practice, we have updates to the competition program. Water samples are judged within three divisions:

  • Division 1: Large Water System (populations over 100,000)
  • Division 2: Medium Water System (populations 2,500 – 24,999)
  • Division 3: Small Water System (populations 2,500 or less)

How to Enter

The next competition will be held at the 2026 BCWWA Annual Conference & Trade Show, April 29 – May 1, 2026, in Penticton, BC.
